🎱 WSA TRAINING UPDATES POSTED
Sept 12 UPDATE:
- Phase II schedule is posted.
- Takes effect Monday, Sept 16th.
- The delay was based on efforts to secure additional lighting to ensure our $$'s are invested for long term success as we attempt to host 70 teams at West Bank each week Mon-Thur. Thank you for your patience & understanding.
- There will be changes ongoing to help rotate teams to different surfaces to help SHARE the various resources we have. This will take some time as we map out the most economical way to make this happen for the long term benefit of ALL members.
- ABIDE: Share and help each other succeed. This is the EXPECTATION. This is WHO we are. Your players are important. They are as important as your teammate's players. They are ALL "OUR ATHLETES" and EACH ONE MATTERS and CARRIES EQUITABLE VALUE TO OUR MISSION.
- You will NOT have to defend & protect resources when you begin to share w/ others. Note: Do not share the ball w/ the opponent in matches - this is detrimental to the opponent. Do share the ball w/ your team members - enjoy the success sharing brings. Know when to share!
- Prepare Roger to offend you - this is why we were taught this lesson to share in kindergarten. The basic and most fundamental principles of the human condition rely on COOPERATION & COMMUNITY. "BUILD THE COMMUNITY YOU WANT TO BELONG TO."
- THE MAJORITY OF YOUR MESOCYLE of Your training sessions - at ANY LEVEL including on the training ground of City & Barca & RM - should not require or revolve around a goal, lines on a field, or full space. If this is the case I need to understand your methodology and we need to collaborate on your processes integrating to the WSA WAY. Possibly your athletes are not keeping the ball bc of the session design or your methods. That is OK - but let's get it fixed and DO BETTER on behalf of the athletes we serve.
July 24 UPDATE:
- Takes Effect Thursday, Aug 1
- Strict Adherence and Compliance Expected
- Questions, or Solution Oriented Feedback Contact Roger & Jimmy, Site Coordinators for Weeks 1-2
- Do not fall in 💔 w/ your field - it will change
- Do not hate your field - it will change
- A field is NOT a field - some are good - some are bad
- We appreciate in advance your compliance, cooperation and positive leadership
- Question about schedule - Rafael aka Rafa
- Did you miss completing the form - your team not listed - COMPLETE FORM HERE
About 80% of the teams requested Mon/Thurs at 530 PM. If necessary we will create a 2-phased schedule providing 530 PM slots to half of the teams, and 700 PM time slots to teams, and then teams will rotate from 530 to 700 and 700 to 530 PM during 6 weeks of PHASE II. We will also provide alternatives and potential other opportunities for teams to rotate if those teams must keep the 500/530 PM slot. WEST BANK TRAINING FLEX SCHEDULE RULE:
- WEST BANK TRAINING PHASES METHODS: About 65% of the year it is too dark to train during after school and after work hours. WSA possesses 13 lit soccer fields. This is not enough to serve our 100+ teams in the Tulsa area. The training schedule will be PHASED to accommodate for "dark periods" (Sept 1 thru March 20).
- ✅ PRIORITIES IN MAKING ASSIGNMENTS
- If a coach has multiple teams the coaches sessions must be scheduled "back-to-back" so that all athletes receive proper attention from the coach. Note that is NOT punishing a team whose coach does not have multiple teams, but advocating for athletes who have a coach with shared responsibilities. Part of being in a community includes sacrifice and compromise.
1. Teams sharing a coach.
- 2. Age of team. Youth teams aged U6-U10 will receive first priority for earlier time slots.
- 3. Space Requirements. Some of our older teams have combined teams to help conserve space. For example, and almost exclusively, in our U15-U19 teams, the periodization schedule lightens during the Spring, and teams begin to combine sessions. Since these player have reduced opportunity with their club teams, due to high school soccer conflicts, the one session per week, in a combined setting, becomes a high priority to schedule around and within the context of the athlete's busy high school schedule. This priority is in effect Jan 15 thru April 15 to help ensure these teams remain connected to "each other" and in "form" for the athletes competition schedules during this time.
- 📲 WHO TO CONTACT
- Rafael Rivera is the Training Schedule Coordinator. You can text Rafael at: 918 549 1027.
- 👍 TRAINING NIGHT RULES of THUMB:
- 1. Safety is a non-negotiable part of the WSA Way Game Model. Abide by all weather alerts and directives, as well as all goal safety practices.
- 2. Abide by your assigned location, field #, field space, time.
- 3. Reminder that if you are scheduled 530-700 PM and begin at 600 PM and intend to end at 730 PM, contact the team coach scheduled for 700 PM seeking a coordinated plan for the 30 minute overlap from 700-730 PM (when your team is ending and the next team is beginning).
- 4. If you CANCEL a SESSION please CANCEL on BOOK-A-FIELD. This helps others know that the field is available. Need a book-a-field account - click here. Each time we transition from one "phase to another phase", the Book-A-Field info will lag behind by about one week as we udpate it.
- 5. Do NOT move goals. The current allocation of goals allows for 2-3 goals "per field". There are currently 40 goals on the facility.
