JUNIORS PROGRAM (4-6 Year olds) FALL SEASON WRAPS UP
80 Kids, 6 Countries, Lots of Fun!
WSA is very proud of its innovative Juniors Program. The WSA Juniors Program is for children 4-6 years old. It introduces the "beautiful game" in a FUN atmosphere focusing on FUNdamentals! The program is currently coaching almost 80 children on 6 different "country" teams. Brazil, England, Holland, Jamaica, Spain, and of course U.S.A., are all a part of the teams or training groups that constitute the program.
The program consists of a 45 minute skills training session one night a week and "friendlies" on Saturday mornings at Rivercity Parks in Sand Springs. Participants also receive tshirts and end of season awards. "This is a great way to introduce children to the sport of soccer," says Juniors Director and coach of Holland and Jamaica, John Williams. "All of our coaches in the Junior Program are licensed, experienced coaches. I’ve never been a part of a program quite like this one. My youngest son went through this program and he’s still active in soccer today."
One of the primary goals of the program is for kids to have fun, and then to learn. Socialization, muscle memory, healthy exercise, are all key goals of the program. The objective is to capture the energy, creativity, and spirit of the children in a game that fosters and promotes continued growth in those areas.
WSA and Williams hope that there is a great player retention from one season to the next, and are confident the program is not only providing a great platform for a great childhood experience at this stage, but also a lauchpad for some future soccer stars down the road!
"It’s amazing to see not only the retention of players, but also the skill levels of these players at such a young age. They are learning the basic fundamentals of soccer that they may not have as part of a traditional U6 soccer program. I think WSA is on to something with this Academy style program for our beginners and I’m excited to be a part of it."

The Juniors program may draw the largest crowd at Rivercity on Saturdays (photo right). Here parents enjoy a nice day watching their children play at the beautiful Rivercity Parks (recently Rivercity was voted one of the top 50 parks in the United States by Coca-Cola’s Live Positively Favorite Park Campaign!).
