WSA ACADEMY RECOGNITION NIGHT

"04s" Graduating Class Recognized

West Side Alliance Soccer Club's Academy Premiere players and teams were recognized and acknowledged for a year's worth of hard work and dedication to the sport of soccer on Thursday (May 15).  The event included acknowledgement of the "04s" the 2014 graduating class of the Academy program.   Academy Director Barry Roberts presented the WSA traditional "Footballer of the Year" awards as well as career achievement awards.

Career Achievement Award Winners were Bella Thompson and Nate Weeks.  Coaches reported that the two players had been dedicated and committed toward extra practice, whether honing skills, or improving weaknesses, over the course of all 4 years in the academy program.  In addition coaches commended both players for their "teammate" attitude, and "Side before Self" approach toward their team.

The "04's" were also acknowledged for their commitment to "practice" and "work" during their careers as youth players.  The 2014 Academy graduating class, was one of the most committed toward training, practicing, and improving.  Director of Coaching, Barry Roberts, also credited and thanked the parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, of all the players, who have supported their youth soccer careers so far.

Coach Barry Roberts also acknowledged the traditional "Footballers of the Year" award to several players representing different programs in the Academy.  The Footballer of the Year award was summarized as the player who could have been the hardest working, best teammate, or most improved, but not necessarily the best player.  WSA has a strong tradition of acknowledging and producing "footballers", those players whose commitment, conviction, and dedication sets the standard.
