JAKE FEENER HIRED AS DIRECTOR OF GOALKEEPING
Feener Joins The Side Full Time

WSA Soccer has announced that Jake Feener will join The Side in 2017-18 as the club's full-time Director of Goalkeeping!  This exciting news will not only bring Feener into more sessions but also will allow the implementation of further programming on behalf of goalkeepers, such as curriculum development, evaluations, purposed warm-ups, coach education, functional goalkeeper training, and video analysis of mechanics, and game reviews.

Coach Feener comes from a rich background of soccer originally from the West Coast. He has been a member of the Tulsa Roughnecks roster, having spent the 2015-17 seasons with the team, and currently trains daily with the team.  Feener has played with MLS's Seattle Sounders U23 team, and played collegiately at Seattle University where he was named MVP of the WAC Conference tournament. Feener is a native of Sacremento, California, and currently residing in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he is also a part-time goalkeeper coach for the ORU Men's Soccer team.

"We couldn't be more thrilled to be able to add this positon to part of our club's program, and we found what we are confident to be the perfect fit in Jake Feener.  Jake brings energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism that is unique to his trade.  We are confident he will help revolutionize goalkeeper training and programming and it will be a huge benefit for the goalkeepers of the Tulsa and Northeast Oklahoma area," reports WSA Executive Director, Roger Bush.

Coach Chase Wooten, WSA's current Goalkeeper Director will retain his goalkeeping role within the club.  "Chase is excellent.  His role goes unchanged.  The addition of Coach Feener is just that - an addition," reports Bush.  "Coach Feener will be availalbe on a larger spectrum and scale for players.  Coach Wooten will still run the regular weekly advanced and intermediate sessions, but we expect Coach Feener's duties to extend beyond weekly sessions, into many other areas.  With Coach Wooten at the college level it's not practical to fill that role and lead a nationally ranked college program."  Coach Chase is also currenly the women's soccer coach at NSU in Tahlequah, where he has successfully led the Riverhawks into nationally ranking positions for the past several seasons.

Feener's position with The Side is effective immediately.  He has already begun meeting with players and staff.  The club's goalkeeper staff in addition to Coach Wooten, includes Corie Frazer, the former Bahamian National Goalkeeper coach, who holds the staff position for the u11-u14s goalkeeper development, and Coach Nader Shaker, who specializes in training the youth academy beginning goalkeepers.  The WSA Goalkeeper program is certain to become one of the most complete and holistic Goalkeeper programs of it's kind.

Feener brings a unique professional perspective onto the training ground, and an experienced background towards curriculum development in goalkeeper development.  "I am excited for this opportunity.  Goalkeeping has been a passion of mine my whole life and I look forward to passing that to the keepers at WSA.  My goal is to build a goalkeeping environment at the club, that can help our goalkeepers grow and advance to higher levels of the game," reports Coach Feener.

Coach Feener, in addition to training and curriculum oversight, will also travel with WSA older teams to various showcases, and to team's regional league events, and will attend OPC match days.  Coach Feener will provide in-game evaluations and feedback to both players and coaching staff.  He will assist with pre-game warm-up, halftime instruction, and will oversee the classroom curriculum of game analysis, film review, and player feedback.  Coach Feener also possesses a wide college network range, further advancing The Side's already strong college placement resources.  Along with Coach Wooten, Coach Feener presents a formidable team in terms of training and inroads on behalf of the college goalkeeper prospects in the club.

Please stay tuned for more information forthcoming on the 2017-18 Goalkeeper training schedule, and the summer camps open to all goalkeepers.  It continues to be a very exciting time to be a part of The Side!
