WSA 98 GIRLS INTO REGIONAL SEMIFINALS

The WSA 98 girls rebounded from an opening day setback against North Carolina, the defending Regional Champions, by claiming two consecutive 3-1 wins over Tennessee and Louisiana respectively.  The team claimed the "wild card" spot in the tournament as the 4th qualifier for the semifinals after a gut wrenching "result tracking watch party" which saw every result fall WSA's way.

This was sweet redemption for a club who has had several teams lose out on goal difference at the Regional Championships over the years.

The team opened the tournament in strong fashion playing toe to toe with the tournament favorites, and taking a nil-nil result to the half.  The team was still very much alive and in the match when at the 65th minute a blood stained uniform forced the team to go down a man, and while down a man they conceded what would be be the deciding goals of the match.

The next two matches, which represents the last 180 minutes for The Side, has seen strong play from the center of the park creating an array of chances and opportunities.  Solid backline play, along with some blistering pace from the wingers has helped The Side dominate possession, shots, shots on target, and corner kicks won.

The opponent on Friday, Tamba Bay United, the Florida State Champions, will present a formidable foe.  Tamba Bay United has a good run of success against Oklahoma's top 98 girls teams historically.  However, The Side is eager and energized, and believing that anything is possible in this "final 16 position" in the nation.  A win Tuesday would represent a birth in the Regional Final, a first for The Side, and possibly a chance to earn a birth to Nationals.

Good luck ladies!  C'MON YOU SIDE!
