Coach Gibbs is a WSA Alumni, competing on the WSA 86 team which finished as a state finalist in their senior year. He played with current WSA Staff Brad Bates, Tom Apitz, and others, on a team coached by WSA Director, Roger Bush.

Gibbs was a club and high school standout.  He founded the youth program, Boulder Academy, with many of the same principles and values applied to the WSA Youth Academy Gibbs now leads.  Gibbs has a strong belief that all players should be provided opportunity to develop and grow in the game, and is a huge advocate for participation to develop.

Gibbs began coaching for WSA at the young age of 21, having led programs such as the 96 Boys, 04 Boys, 06 Girls, and 04 Girls.  A majority of those players continued to play into the senior year of high school.  This is a huge achievement.  Gibbs has recently coached and led the development of hundreds of players in the club's 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and even 2018 programs.

Gibbs reach and impact in the soccer community in Northeast Oklahoma is significant and real.

Several of Coach Gibbs teams have qualified for national events, recently (2022) his 2013 Boys team qualfiied for the Super Copa as one of the top U9 boys in the nation!

Gibbs gift is in connecting and relating to the young player, leading grassroots soccer development at all levels, and casting vision for future soccer programming.  He recently led a grassroots referee course, which is engaging new referees to get involved in the game.
