WSA 95 GIRLS FINALIST AT COSMOS CUP
Writing Another Chapter

The WSA 95 girls, coached by Billy Wallace, reached the tournament championship of the 2008 Cosmos Cup on the weekend of September 20-21 at the South Lakes Soccer Complex. The team won a semifinal contest in dramatic fashion defeating Normany Fury 96 in a penalty shootout to arrive at the finals.
To arrive at the semifinal stage WSA had to beat South Lakes Cosmos, which they did 6-0, and Enid which they handled easily 4-0. The team lost to Norman Fury 95 1-0 in the first round and would find the same opponent waiting for them in the final after the penalty kick battle with Norman Fury 96.
The championship final proved to be physical and the tough Norman Fury team, who incidentally had also knocked WSA 95 out of the State Director's Cup Semifinals, was still a bit too much for the fast improving WSA 95 girls team. Norman won the match 3-0. Coach Wallace pointed out he was proud of his girls, "I couldn't be prouder of a group of girls than I am of these young ladies right now." WSA battled hard, and according to coach learned some good lessons in the tough loss.

WSA 95 has currently won two tournament trophies on the young season in an impressive and auspicious start, as well as being unbeaten in league play. Coincidentally the WSA 95 girls were also team champions at the WSA Team Building Camp this summer.

Congratulations WSA 95 girls for yet another impressive showing!

WSA 98 GIRLS CHAMPIONS LABOR DAY

The WSA 98 girls, coached by Mark Foster and Josh Eardley, turned in an oustanding performance at the 2008 BASC Labor Day Tournament by going unbeaten in four straight matches to claim the Tournament Championship Trophy in dramatic fashion.
WSA 98, playing in it's third match in just a few hours, would face a tough Tulsa Thunder 98 girls team in the final. Having already beaten Thunder earlier in the tournament the WSA girls knew the battle would be tough the second time around. It got even tougher when the match headed to extra time after a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation. WSA had a couple of chances to break the tie in the overtime period, but the match headed to the penalty kick shootout stage, and it would take 8 rounds before a winner was decided.

WSA 93 BOYS WIN LABOR DAY CHAMPIONSHIP

The WSA 93 boys under the guidance and tutelage of new head coach Justin Phillips, and assistant trainer Emo Griffin, have quickly found some impressive results. The team did not disappoint during the 2008 BASC Labor Day Inviatational held at Indian Springs earlier this month.
WSA 93 boys went unbeaten through the first 3 matches of pool play cruising to the finals where they would meet tournament host Hurricane 93. WSA 93 came out of the gates roaring and found an early goal take them to halftime at 1-0. While momentum did not shift, WSA did not mount the same consistent pressure in the 2nd half and 10 minutes from time Hurricane tied the match at 1-1. But almost as if proclaiming they would not be denied, WSA 93 responded less than 60 seconds later to get the winner and the trophy.
WSA 93 won the WSA Roundrobin championship earlier this summer. The team is currently unbeaten in league play as well having amassed 9 wins in 9 tries so far this year. Well done WSA 93 boys!

WSA 95 GIRLS CHAMPIONS AT BROKEN ARROW
The WSA 95 girls team has a story to tell, but ask the girls and they'll let you know they've far from written the last chapter of their fairy tale beginning. Their most recent chapter in the Broken Arrow Labor Day tournament will be a memorable one. The WSA 95 girls, a team that has come full circle since beginning their competitive days at one of the lowest rungs of the ladder, has quickly ascended in the past two years, and put an exclamation point on their journey earlier this month by bringing home their first gold medals.
WSA 95 defeated Tulsa Nationals 95 in the finals of the BASC Labor Day Invitational by a score of 2-1 after leading the match 2-0. The team reached the finals by earning enough points in their three pool games earlier in the tournament, defeating Thunder and Nationals. Great defending and attacking play, complemented by some excellent goalkeeping helped WSA 95 earn the tournament trophy.
WSA 95 girls are coached by Billy Wallace and team manager is Mrs Kathy Kuegler. The team will next compete in the Cosmos Cup on the weekend of September 20-21.
