WSA 92 Boys Season Turn-Around; Runner-Up “A” Division
The WSA 92 boys captured the u14 boys “A” division runner-up trophy in a league (Fall ’05) which required the boys to “dig themselves out of an early season hole”.  WSA dropped their first two matches of the season in two of their poorest performances, and found themselves scrambling to just get back in the race.  A 2-0 victory over Highlanders to break the losing streak propelled the squad onto a 5 game winning streak, and they finished with a final record of 6 wins and 3 losses.  WSA dropped two matches to Thunder 92, the league champion, and one match to Ponca City on their home ground, but evened the home-home series by handing Ponca a defeat on the road late in the year.
The 92 boys will likely miss qualification for the Oklahoma Premiere League, but will at least be considered a candidate and certainly will place that on their “things to do list” (if not Santa’s list) over the holiday.  The squad developed a reputation as a team that could manufacture goals out of thin air, several times scoring against the run of play.  Coach Ryan Bush was happy with the team’s progress in their organization and possession, and is hopeful that by solidifying their defending tactics that the team can make a push for OPL qualification in the Spring.  Well done 92 boys on a great season turn-around!

WSA 90 Boys Runner-Up “A” Division
The WSA 90 boys team recorded their highest finish in league play this year placing runner-up in the u16 “A” division with a 9-2 record, and 27 points in the standings.  Tulsa Nationals 90 won the league with a perfect 11-0 record, and 33 points in the standings.  WSA snuck in front of Thunder who had 25 points in the standings to take 3rd place.  WSA’s two losses of the season came at the hands of Thunder and Nationals, both games in which WSA had chances to score, but could not find the back of the net.
WSA’s success this season was due in large part to a solid, organized, hard-tackling defense.  The stingy WSA 90 boys team have made goalscoring difficult all year, and in fact have made a tradition of it.  The runner-up trophy in the “A” division will enable WSA 90 at least consideration for the OPL.  This season’s league trophy marks the third consecutive league trophy the team has captured under the tutelage of trainer Scott Peavler.  Last year the team captured two third place trophies in league play playing up a year in the “A” division.  In tournament play this year WSA managed an unbeaten and unscored on performance at the CASA Tournament in Little Rock, Arkansas, but missed the final by a goal-difference tiebreaker scenario.  Congrats on another great season to WSA 90!

88 Boys Runners-Up at St. Louis Showcase
The WSA 88 boys brought home the runner-up trophy at the MC United College Coaches Showcase in St. Louis, Missouri finishing with two wins, a draw, and a loss against some of top clubs from the Midwest Region the weekend of November 12th and 13th.

The club opened tournament play on Saturday with a 1-1 draw to the Topeka Wolves, the eventual tournament champions.  WSA 88 played well enough, even missing a penalty in the dying moments of the match that would have secured the win.  In their second match of the day WSA dropped a close contest to Mid Rivers Soccer Club out of Illinois, 1-0. While the rest of the tournament was filled with draws, and close results, WSA remained alive going into Sunday's final matches.

Needing a good result in their first match Sunday, WSA called upon the heroics of goalkeeper Irving Perralta who turned away several chances by SASA 88 out of Springfield.  Perralta's brilliance in goal was rewarded with a shutout, and WSA managed their lone goal off the boot of midfielder Danny Keuhler.  With the 1-0 win over SASA 88, WSA would need a victory over Quad City in their final match to put them in trophy contention.  Josh Shexnider provided the lift, literally, as he outleaped the Quad City goalkeeper for the winning goal that found the top shelf and secured a 2-1 win for WSA 88.

WSA finished the bracket play with 20 points, while Topeka found a win in their final match to outdo WSA by totaling 25 points.

The WSA 88 boys mark the third WSA team that has captured a finalist trophy from the MC United tourney.  In 2002 WSA 85 boys went undefeated to bring home the championship, and in 2003 WSA 86 boys also went undefeated but finished as runner-up.  Last year the WSA 89 girls were eliminated in the semifinals.

WSA 88 is coached by Josh McElroy.

Well done lads on an outstanding tournament and well deserved trophy!

WSA 90 Boys Undefeated, Unscored On in Little Rock
It won't happen often, but the 90 boys managed to not bring home a trophy but go unbeaten and unscored on in the CASA Invitational in Little Rock, Arkansas over the weekend of November 5th and 6th.  The 90 boys participating in their first tournament play of the season, opened play Saturday with a convincing 3-0 win over Latino Heat.  Then the squad defeated Little Rock FC '90, 2-0, to set up a showdown with tournament favorite LRFC 91 on Sunday morning.
WSA thinking a draw would send them through to the final managed the 0-0 draw with the host club.  Since LRFC 91 had given away a goal in first round play WSA thought to hold the tiebreaker advantage.  However, the first tiebreaker criteria was goals scored and LRFC had found the back of the net 12 times in their other two first round matches.  The tourney marked a dramatic improvement from last year's showing for the boys, and capped a successful Fall campaign in which the squad has only lost two matches in 12 outings.  Well done lads!
The WSA 90 boys are coached by Scott Peavler, and are currently in contention for a runner-up trophy in the u16 "A" division. [11/09/05]

WSA 94 Girls "A" Division League Runner-Up
The WSA 94 girls will add yet another trophy to their trophy case this winter as Saturday's win over Extreme 94 solidified their second straight "A" division runner-up prize.  The trophy will be bittersweet as the 94 girls had their eyes set on the Championship hardware this time around.
Their 3-0 win over Extreme 94 not only clinched the runner-up trophy but capped a remarkable season in which the girls scored over 100 goals in league play, allowing only 7.  WSA 94 managed 10 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss in the 13 team league, while TSC 94 at last check was unbeaten, after having defeated WSA 2-1 in a thriller at WSA Fields in October.
The 94's will next play in the TSC Challenge Cup before taking a holiday break.  The squad is still hoping for an invite from the OPL.  The team is coached by Terry and Dustyn Hall.
Congrats ladies on yet another trophy and on a superb season![11/09/05]

Lil Alliance Academy 98's Go Unbeaten in Friendlies
The Lil Alliance Academy 98 boys defeated Extreme 98 boys and Extreme 98 girls in the Owasso Friendlies on Sunday, October 30th.  Playing 6-a-side soccer for the first time, and with goalkeepers for the first time, the team took little time to adjust to the new format as they won 2-1 over the Extreme Academy Boys and 8-1 over the Extreme Academy Girls.
The Lil Alliance Academy 98 girls found their first time at 6-a-side soccer an enjoyable experience, even though they lost both their matches.
Greg Haney coached the 98 boys while Mark Foster guided the 98 girls through their first doses of competitive level soccer.
Lil Alliance Academy may be hosting friendlies this December, so stay posted if you'd like a chance to check our our club's youngest talents.  Well done to all the players and parents for an excellent outing! [11/08/05]

WSA 91 Boys Finalist; WSA 93 Girls Semifinalist in Blitz Tourney
Only two teams represented WSA at the 1st Annual Blitz United Invitational tournament on the weekend of October 29th and 30th, and both sides had great weekends.  The WSA 93 girls advanced to the semifinals, while the WSA 91 boys advanced to the championship finals!
The WSA 91 boys advanced in dramatic fashion when goalkeeper Michael Hendricks saved a penalty in the final moments against Thunder 91 to preserve a
0-0 draw in their third match of the first round. The draw gave WSA a win, and two ties in the first round, and enough points in their group to make the championship final match.   WSA beat Blitz 91, 4-2, tied Blitz 90, 1-1, in addition to their scoreless draw with Thunder 91, enroute to their championship appearance.  In the finals WSA 91 defended hard, and missed a couple of good chances in the first half before conceding the match to one of Oklahoma's top sides, Thunder 92.  Congrats WSA 91 on the well-deserved runner-up trophy!
The 91 boys are coached by Pedro Colina.
The WSA 93 girls team's first round performance and semifinal placement at the Blitz Invitational did not resemble a team who had never advanced in a tournament.  The 93 girls went through their first two matches and all but the final second of their third match, unbeaten and unscored on. The 93's defeated Ponca City 4-0, Blitz United White 2-0, and then Extreme 2-1 on their way to the semifinals.  Extreme scored on an indirect free kick from 6 yards out in the final second of the match preventing WSA from completing the perfect goals against performance for the first round.  Ashley Hampton, Kayla Bales, Jordan Fields, and Temple Zenoni all contributed goals for the 93's on the weekend, while some tough goalkeeping from Hope Sheppard, and solid backline play helped preserve the two shutouts.
In the semifinals the squad would face a very good Blitz Navy team.  After giving away two early goals, WSA 93 slowly began adjusting to the speed of the match.  Emily Byrney nearly found the net in the 4th minute to draw WSA back in the match.  Battling hard to the end WSA dropped the match by a final score of 4-0.  Well done ladies on a great weekend, and congrats your first tournament advancement!
The WSA 93 girls currently are in 2nd place in the "A" division.  The team is coached by Roger Bush and Billy Wallace. [10/31/05]
WSA 94 GIRLS ADVANCE TO SEMIS IN TWO TOURNAMENTS
The WSA 94 girls squad has continued it's winning ways in their Fall '05 campaign by advancing in two tournaments, the BASC Labor Day Invitational in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and the Dawg Daze Tournament, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas.
In both events the u12 girls squad would face a formidable foe in the semifinal stage.  In the BASC Labor Day tourney the girls ran into what might be currently Oklahoma's top under-12 girls team, NOKC United.  In an excellent first half the 94 girls went up and down the field with United, before conceding a goal on a corner kick to the taller forwards of United.  But WSA battled back, and two chances by WSA mifielder Alyson Hall nearly found the net, one ricocheting off the post.  In the 2nd half WSA continued to challenge United's backline, even after they found themselves down 2-0.  The final score of 3-0 didn't do justice to the competitive spirit the match was played in.  WSA could be proud that their three first round matches and their quarterfinal match were played without giving up a goal.
A few weeks later WSA 94 girls would travel to Arkansas to participate in the Dawg Daze tournament.  The squad went unbeaten in the first round to win their group, but found Ingram FC waiting for them in the semifinals.  In a tough match WSA lost 2-1 and would once again see the championship trophy just slip through their hands.  A team they had beaten in the first round would go on to advance on the other half of the bracket by claiming the wild card spot and win the tournament.
The WSA 94 girls, the 2005 Oklahoma Director's Cup State Champions, are coached by Dustyn Hall and Terry Hall.  Congrats ladies on two excellent showings at tourneys so far this season!   [10/24/05]

WSA 94 GIRLS RUNNER-UP IN OZARK CLASSIC
The WSA 94 girls are becoming very familiar with the idea of having the "championship" trophy within grasp.  The squad traveled to the Ozark Classic in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on October 8th and 9th where they reached the championship finals.  After going unbeaten in the first round, and winning their semifinal match, the team would face a familiar foe in Ingram FC from Arkansas.  WSA had avenged a previous loss to Ingram FC in the first round of the tournament by beating the tough Arkansas side 1-0.  However, in spite of solid play the team could not find the bounces or soccer fortune to bring home a championship trophy as Ingram walked a away with a 1-0 win and the championship trophy.
WSA 94 improved it's tournament record on the year to 11 wins and 3 losses.  It's overall record on the year now stands at 17 wins, 1 draw, and 3 losses.  With the "A" division championship and promotion to the Premiere League now on the line the team hopes it can finally take grasp of a championship trophy, much like it did at the State Director's Cup last Spring.   [10/24/05]

Tulsa, Oklahoma  September 27, 2005----Saturday, September 24, 2005 turned out to be a beautiful evening at the ORU soccer fields as 2300 soccer fans attended the Katrina Relief Soccer Cup.
