CHRIS TAYLOR SELECTED IN MLS SUPERDRAFT
Picked No. 22 Pick by Portland Timbers

Chris Taylor has spent the past two years helping Wes Branstetter coach the WSA 97 Boys Red Team and playing college soccer at The University of Tulsa for Coach Tom McIntosh.  He helped lead the TU team to the Elite 8 of the NCAA National Tournament in 2009 before TU was eliminated by Akron. This past year TU once again qualified for the NCAA tournament and Taylor was once again a key part of that success.

Chris left last month after completing his senior season at TU to enter the MLS Combine and pursue his dream of playing professional soccer. Today that dream came true, "I’m absolutely elated.  It is a dream come true.  Since I was four years old, I haven’t missed a season  I am looking forward to getting to Portland and having the opportunity to play.  Portland is an expansion team so I am looking forward to proving myself and fighting for a starting spot.  I am super excited about the chance to play soccer, a sport I love, for my job."

Fox Soccer Channel is reporting that Portland Timbers landed the top draft class in MLS for 2010 including the #2 overall pick from Akron, Darlington Nagbe.

The WSA family extends a huge congratulations to Chris "Chrissy" Taylor and wishes him all the best!  We thank him for his service to our club program, in particular our WSA 97 Boys Red team and for his continued ambassadorship for the great sport of soccer and our community.

Portland Timbers may have just gained a fan base on the West Side of Tulsa!  Congrats Chrissy!
