 THE SIDE SENDS 8 TO FINALS ROUNDS OF THE BLITZ INVITATIONAL!
95 Girls, 03 Boys, 02 Boys, 98 Boys, 97 Boys Red, 99 Girls, 98 Girls Red, 97 Girls All Advance!

  WSA teams had a successful tournament outing this past weekend at the 2011 Annual Blitz Invitational.  The WSA 99 Girls won the tournament championship with an unbeaten record in the u13 girls "Gold" division, while the WSA 97 Girls claimed the championship in the u15 Girls "Silver" division.  

   The WSA 95 Girls, WSA 97 Boys Red, and WSA 98 Boys all reached the Championship Finals of their respective "gold divisions", while the WSA 03 Boys, WSA 02 Boys, and WSA 98 Girls Red, reached the semifinal stages.  

    The WSA 95 girls recorded an outstanding weekend "playing up" in the "93" division, and gave one of Oklahoma’s top "94" teams a run in the finals, before conceding a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Norman Fury 94.  The WSA 97 Boys Red met a familiar nemesis, TSC 97, in the finals. While the WSA 97’s had a decent run to reach the finals, the coaching staff reported the team did not bring their best performance for the finals against the TSC team who ousted WSA from the 2011 State Semis.  The WSA 98 Boys reached the championship finals before falling 2-1 to the host club, Blitz United 98 Red.  

     The Side sent two of it’s younger teams to the semifinal stages when the WSA 02 boys and WSA 03 boys pulled the trick.  WSA 03 Boys fell 3-0 to Spirit America Agape in the semis, while WSA 02 Boys fell 2-1 to NEOFC 02 Red in the semis.  The WSA 98 Girls Red team did not concede a goal through their three first round games, before giving up a full complement of 4 goals to the heavily touted Blitz United 99 White team in the "gold" division semis.    
     
      Altogether WSA sent 13 teams to this year’s Blitz United Invitational which was hosted at Broken Arrow’s Indian Springs Complex.  The coaching staff reported a great weekend of great weather, competition and fun for all the players.  

      Other WSA participating teams included: WSA 00 Boys, WSA 96 Boys Red, WSA 98 Girls Blue, WSA 96 Girls, and WSA 01 Girls Red.  "We enjoy supporting the Blitz event because it is well organized, is great timing, and we have a great relationship with their program," reported WSA Director of Coaching, Roger Bush.
